USC NSBE – The Road to the 45th Annual NSBE National Convention

The goal of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is to lead the U.S. in graduating 10,000 black undergraduate engineers annually by 2025.  In order to acheive this goal, NSBE has established collegiate chapters at universities all across the county in hopes to "increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community".

Our Mission

The USC chapter of NSBE (USC NSBE) offers its members leadership training, professional development activities, mentoring, career placement services, community service opportunities and more.  Each year, our chapter works to send between 30 and 35 members of our chapter to participate in an amazing experience – to attend the National Society of Black Engineers' annual convention.  We are reaching out to donors to see if they would like to help support our goal of sending our chapter to this awesome event.

Our Goal

We are trying to raise $5,000 through this campaign to support our team’s trip this year's 45th Annual NSBE National Convention, which will be held in Detroit, Michigan.

Each year the National Society of Black Engineers hosts a convention where they invite over 12,000 pre-collegiate, collegiate and professional members from all over the globe to participate in activities geared toward engineering and other STEM fields.  These activities include professional development workshops, keynote speaker presentations, and networking.  Additionally, the conference gathers hundreds of companies to set up booths and host a career fair where they recruit thousands of Black engineering talent.  This event would be a great opportunity for our members to attend and it would help them develop key skills necessary for their time at USC and after.

In order to get to this convention we need funding for hotel lodging, transportation, and food.  Our goal right now is to raise $5,000 to help support the cost of half the airline tickets to Detroit.  Any additional funding will cover the rest of the costs for the flight/transportation, lodging and food.

We want to send between 30 and 35 students to the conference, but we would love to send more, if we are able to obtain more donations.  A gift in support of our cause will have a positive and major impact on our chapter so that we can dedicate our other efforts to our weekly general body meetings, local professional development activities, and fundraising for other regional conferences.
