USC Swim Team Hawaii Training Trip
First and foremost, we would like to thank all who have supported USC Swimming in the past. As many of you know, we have recently renovated our aquatics facility and now have one of the premier training facilities in the country, if not in the world! The Uytengsu Aquatics Facility has provided a great edge for our programs.
As we continue to build our swimming programs here at USC, one of the exciting additions to the Program Plan this year is a training camp to Hawaii. Much like we did nearly five years ago, we have in the plans to arrive in Hawaii on December 28 and train through January 6. We have arranged for accommodations while in Honolulu, along with training time at the University of Hawaii. Everyone will recall what a great experience we had five years ago and how well prepared we were for the remainder of that season. The opportunity to focus exclusively on training and preparation for the Spring championship season is invaluable. Coupled with that, team bonding and fostering camaraderie will lay the groundwork for a successful PAC 12 and NCAA Championships!
Now how are we going to accomplish this? First, in order to do any trip like this, we must raise the funds to make it happen. What we are asking the team to do is secure flights to Honolulu to arrive early on December 28, in time for our first training session. Swimmers can make these arrangements by using airline miles or paying down the cost directly. Our effort over the next several months is to raise enough money to pay for the whole trip. Our most important drive will be seeking contributions to sponsor each swimmer's trip at a cost of $1,500 per athlete. But we will also be asking for smaller pledges from our alums and boosters to help make this happen. All gifts are appreciated and needed! In addition we will plan to conduct local swim clinics at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center with proceeds going toward underwriting the cost of the trip.
Right out the gate, Mike Nyeholt is generously sponsoring two athletes with a donation of $3,000! The Salo Swim Camp and Trojan Swim Club will be donating four spots ($6,000) to the cause and want to encourage all our alums and boosters to help.
With so many recruits asking every year about what we do for a training camp, it will certainly be an important selling point with prospects when we can make a trip like this at least once every four years.
Thanks again for all your support and helping send the Trojans to Hawaii... To TRAIN!
