Who are we?
SC Cycling is a co-ed collegiate club sport team that teaches members how to ride safely around the Los Angeles area, and organizes roadbike and mountainbike adventure rides. We are entirely student-run and support over 100 riders each academic year. Just this fall term, 176 students filled out our interest form - and well over 50 people have showed up to our various rides this semester!
In addition to organizing bicycle adventures, we introduce students to different cycling disciplines, and compete in road, mountain, and track cycling races. We are part of the Western Collegiate Cycling Conference (California and Nevada), and put on an annual bicycle race for all levels. In 2019, we introduced 20 students to racing, and through the pandemic we organized virtual races on Zwift. Just this year, we sent a member to Mountain bike Nationals (congratulations, Jorge!).
The club is open to undergrads, graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the University of Southern California regardless of your interest in racing. To learn more about the team, visit www.usccycling.com.
Fundraising to get more students on bikes!
The SC Cycling club has received a lot of interest by students that want to start or continue biking. However, due to the costs of buying a bike or shipping their bike from their home, they are unable to pursue this activity here at USC.
Our club is raising money to purchase a number of basic mountain and road bikes to lend to new members on a per-ride basis in an effort to make cycling accessible to all members of the USC community. By purchasing bikes that we can lend out to students new to our sport, we can allow newcomers to try out the sport without having to spend $500+ first.
If we raise $5000, we will be able to purchase two lower midrange mountain bikes (at approximately $1000 each), as well as four entry level roadbikes (at approximately $750 each).
What else do donations support?
Besides the purchase of team bicycles, your generous donations support our programs - covering members' race fees and travel expenses for races, paying for track days, supporting new riders with nutrition on adventure rides, and hosting our annual bicycle race in March.
Any donation helps us make cycling more accessible. Thank you so much for your generosity!
