USC Viterbi Student Aid Fund Challenge

UPDATE (September 15, 2020)

272 Waitlisted Student Applicants

We have received additional applications from 272 students asking primarily for housing and internet access support due to pandemic conditions. 28% are undergraduate students, 66% are graduate students, and the remainder are doctoral students. Please help us support as many of these engineering students as we can!

The Ming Hsieh Challenge is still on: USC Viterbi alumnus Hsieh, ’83, MS ’84 is asking all engineering alumni, parents and friends to join him in making a gift of any size in support of the USC Viterbi Student Aid Fund. For every dollar you give, Mr. Hsieh will match it until we hit our goal!

The Challenge

USC Viterbi alumnus Ming Hsieh, ’83, MS ’84 is asking all engineering alumni, parents and friends to join him in making a gift of any size in support of the USC Viterbi Student Aid Fund. For every dollar you give, Mr. Hsieh will match it until we hit our goal!

Why This Fund Was Created

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have established the USC Viterbi Student Aid Fund to provide financial support to current engineering students who are facing circumstances that may affect their ability to remain enrolled. These funds will help students with short-term housing, food, internet access, transportation, research on campus, lost wages, and supplies. With your support, our students can focus on their education and maintaining their status as a USC student.

Many of our students have seen first-hand the effects of COVID-19; they are facing financial strain due to campus and local job reduction or the inability to return home due to travel restrictions. After hearing how many have been impacted, Ming Hsieh, has graciously and generously decided to help … and is encouraging the USC Viterbi community to join him.

Goal

With your support we can raise $100,000, including Mr. Hsieh's match, which will help to ensure that our engineering students will have access to this fund in times of need. Please join us in making this historic challenge a success.

Thank you for supporting the engineering students of today and tomorrow!

FIGHT ON!
