As one of the nation’s top physical therapy programs, the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy carries the responsibility of being a leader in the profession. Our mission to enhance the quality of life and health of all people leads us to develop solutions to advance physical therapy education, science and practice. With your support and participation, we are transforming healthcare by creating the future in physical therapy.
Developing Leaders for a Rapidly Changing Healthcare System
The USC Physical Therapy Alumni Endowed Scholarship will allow the Division to continue attracting outstanding students who bring new ideas, new ambitions, and new excitement to the DPT program and USC. By alleviating a portion of their financial burden, prospective students are encouraged to pursue their PT education at USC and current students are empowered to achieve success in the DPT program and in their own professional development.
In and beyond the classroom and the Division’s clinical sites, USC PT students are taking up the standard of leadership established by past generations of Trojan PTs. Current DPT student groups bring professional issues to the forefront by meeting with elected officials each year to advocate for their patients, health equity and fellow physical therapists, and to help underserved communities by engaging in diverse service-learning opportunities around Los Angeles and beyond—working to build a brighter future within the profession and across the continuum of healthcare through their compassion and advocacy.
Trojans Making an Impact
We are continually grateful for the investments our alumni, friends and supporters have made in the past that have given us the capabilities necessary to adapt during the pandemic. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that our students continue to receive the high-quality education they seek, and that we are well-positioned to provide patients with outstanding and safe care in the days ahead. As USC BKNPT continues to train exceptional practitioners who provide exemplary patient care and drive the evolution of the practice of physical therapy—even amidst unprecedented challenges and unexpected change—gifts to the USC Physical Therapy Momentum Fund allow the division to make investments in our educational infrastructure and direct resources where they are most needed.
USC PT Fit Families Serves the Community
Founded more than a decade ago by USC PT students, USC Fit Families continues to provide pro-bono wellness services to underserved families in the Los Angeles area, including a weekly fitness program in which DPT students guide children and their families through workout routines and nutrition education. Your support for the USC PT Fit Families Fund helps our PT students and faculty continue to provide free services that promote health and wellness for individuals at risk for diabetes and other chronic conditions linked to physical inactivity. In addition to live fitness instruction, USC PT students teach participants how to build a healthier diet, how to read food labels and how to safely stretch and work out at home to promote lasting lifestyle change.
Student Emergency Fund
As you can imagine, so much has changed at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy over the last year. Through it all, we remain steadfastly committed to our students while also acknowledging the very real challenges they are facing.
To help address those challenges and to support USC Physical Therapy and Biokinesiology students impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, generous USC BKNPT donors have supported the USC Dentistry, OT and PT Student Emergency Fund over the past year.
This fund serves as a lifeline, helping USC BKNPT students who are experiencing unexpected and overwhelming financial challenges, such as struggling to pay rent, provide for young families, finance necessary emergency travel or afford basic necessities as they continue or complete their education—both during the current crisis and into the future.
Every gift makes a difference and we invite you to partner with the division today as we continue to provide outstanding educational experiences in every era and offer much-needed patient care to our communities.
The University's COVID-19 Response
USC has established four funds in response to the COVID-19 crisis to help support all areas of the Trojan community. These funds include the USC Student Basic Needs Fund, Keck Medicine of USC COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, USC Community Outreach Fund, and USC Employee Support Fund.
Thank you for your support. Fight On!
