Support USC Student-Athletes through the Special Assistance Fund

For USC Athletics, COVID-19 caused a devastating end to many of our sports’ seasons. Our winter sports were entering postseason play and our spring sports were off to a great start. However, everything was quickly halted, forcing our athletes to end their seasons and for some, their collegiate careers.

In spite of this sudden change, we are thrilled with how our student-athletes continue to thrive in the classroom. They have all moved to online classes to finish off the semester strong, and are connected to their teams through interactive Zoom meetings. In addition to classes, they also need to remain in top shape, continue with their nutrition program and have access to all of the academic services we continue to provide.

Unfortunately, not all student-athletes have the luxury of top-notch facilities and access to the technology that is demanded for online classes while they are our home. We ask that you consider donating to the USC Student-Athlete Special Assistance Fund.

The USC Student-Athlete Special Assistance Fund is set up as a trust for student-athletes to help cover costs related to all things that students need for emergency travel, financial hardships, laptops and anything emergency-related due to COVID-19. A few examples include assisting with covering additional technology needs for students who went home and do not have tech capabilities to log on to class; athletes who needed flights home, those who need assistance with medication/prescriptions when they are away from our pharmacy, those who need proper nutrition, and in some cases, access to meals who have stayed here on campus. The funds will be dispersed by an internal USC Athletics committee by greatest need first.

The USC Student-Athlete Special Assistance Fund is not a new fund for USC Athletics. Indeed, it is one we have had in place for many years to use in times of emergency. The difference in 2020 is that it has always been funded by distributions from the NCAA following March Madness—funds we are not receiving this year.

We hope you will consider a fully tax-deductible gift in support of our student-athletes in need. Thank you, and Fight On!
