Men’s Lacrosse Club at USC is a student-run organization that allows students passionate about the sport to continue playing beyond high school. While we receive some funding from the school, we are mostly self-funded through dues and donations. The team plays in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), a governing body that oversees college club lacrosse. Throughout the season, we play teams in our conference, usually located in Southern California and Arizona. In addition, we travel to play non-conference opponents, like our trip to Texas last year to play SMU and UT-Austin. Beyond practicing and playing for ourselves, we have put on clinics at local LA schools to help grow the game of lacrosse.

This year, we are hoping to raise money to fund both our game in the Coliseum and travel and lodging for both conference and national playoffs. The Coliseum game is a biennial tradition where we play our last home game against UCLA in the historic LA Coliseum. This Crosstown Showdown is not only a special experience for the players, who get to play on the field that they often visit as fans, but also for the friends, family, and fans who get to view the game. The game often attracts fans from the LA area, including high school and youth players, and anyone interested in the sport. The fundraising will also help fund travel and lodging for conference playoffs in Santa Barbara and national playoffs in Round Rock, Texas. Both will require travel, including flights for our ~30 players to Texas, and lodging for the team. As of now, we currently do not have the funds to pay for any of these endeavors. It would be heartbreaking to qualify for playoffs, only to not be able to attend due to a lack of money.

The funds will be used to directly pay for the Coliseum game and travel and lodging for playoffs. In the event the team does not make the playoffs, the money will roll over and be used to fund team activities in the future, allowing the team to participate in more away trips outside of the LA area.
